Sněžka is the highest mountain in the Czech Republic and one of the most famous destinations in the Giant Mountains. A trip to its peak is one of the experiences that many visitors take from their stay in the mountains.

You can go to Sněžka on foot from Peca pod Sněžkou, or you can significantly shorten the journey by cable car. From the top, with good visibility, distant views of the Czech and Polish sides of the Giant Mountains open up.

We recommend planning your trip according to the weather. It is usually colder and windier on the ridges than in the valley, so sturdy shoes, a warmer layer of clothing and plenty of water are worth it.

Parking

In Pec pod Sněžkou, the parking lots are busy during the season. It is worth arriving in the morning or outside the main peak.

The weather

Check the forecast before your trip. It can be significantly colder and windier on Sněžka than down in the valley.

Appropriate footwear

We recommend sturdy hiking shoes. Roads can be rocky, wet or icy in winter.

You can find refreshment options in Pec pod Sněžkou, on Růžová hora and, depending on the season, also on the route.

The cable car may be restricted due to weather or wind. Before you travel, check the current traffic.
