About the trip
A trip to the source of the longest Czech river in the heart of the Giant Mountains, among mountain meadows and distant views.
The source of the Elbe can be found in the Elbe meadow in the western part of the Giant Mountains. It is one of the most famous tourist destinations in the mountains, and a trip to it offers a beautiful combination of mountain nature, open views and a quiet ridge atmosphere.
The path to the spring leads through a typical Krkonoše landscape with mountain meadows, meadows and views of the surrounding ridges. The trip can be planned as a leisurely half-day trip from a suitable starting point, or as part of a longer full-day hike through Labská bouda and the surrounding viewpoints.
The weather on the ridges can change quickly, so we recommend that you set out with sturdy shoes, a warmer layer and plenty of water. With good visibility, a trip to the source of the Elbe is one of the nicest experiences in the Giant Mountains.
