About the trip

One of the most beautiful and well-known waterfalls in the Giant Mountains, easily accessible from Harrachov.

The Mumlav waterfall is one of the most visited natural places in the western Giant Mountains. You can find it near Harrachov on the river Mumlava, which here falls over granite blocks and creates a beautiful mountain scenery.

The trip is suitable for families with children, couples and less fit tourists. The path to the waterfall is not too difficult and leads through a pleasant forest environment. Longer walks can also be planned in the surroundings, for example towards Mumlavská bouda or further along the hiking trails.

The Mumlav waterfall is beautiful in every season. In the spring and after the rains, it tends to be the most powerful, in the summer it is a pleasant destination for a walk in the shade of the forest, and in the winter the area around the waterfall has a magical mountain atmosphere.

Practical tips

Parking

Use the marked paid parking lots in Harrachov. They tend to be busy in the season, so it's better to go in the morning.

Snacks

You can find refreshment options in Harrachov and, depending on the season, also in the vicinity of the tourist routes.

The best time

It is beautiful in the morning or later in the afternoon, when there are fewer people at the waterfall and the light is pleasant for photography.

Appropriate footwear

Comfortable hiking shoes are enough for a normal walk. After rain or in winter, the road can be slippery.

Great for photographers

You can take the most beautiful shots at the waterfall itself, on the boulders around Mumlava and in the forest sections of the path.
